Leitgedanken des Vereins "Art and Prison e.V."

What does "Art and Prison" hope to achieve? The association "Art and Prison" originated from an initiative by well-known artists, who supported an exhibition im Rome entitled "Art from Prison” in 2007. The association was officially registered in 2009 in Berlin, the city in which a wall had separated people for decades. Prison walls also separate people but we are convinced that in this situation art can build a bridge of understanding. Members and supporters of the association "Art and Prison" are artists, art lovers, galleries, private sponsors and institutions from presently more than 40 countries and all continents. The association is not aligned with any political party and is not bound to any specific denomination or ideology. This association's charitable, non-profit status is recognized by the German government and donations are therefore tax-deductible. The association desires to make clear that beyond and across national borders, art can make a valuable contribution to humanity and to greater respect for human dignity; a service to the victims of criminality and crime. This is about a new way of integrating people living on the fringe of society, who have no lobby and whose fate often tears families apart. As its central social pilot project, the association supports the building of a rehabilitation center for women who have been repeatedly incarcerated. Español La Asociación „Art and Prison e.V.“ tiene sus orígenes en una iniciativa de notables artistas, quienes en el año 2007 en Roma apoyaron una exposición con el tema "Arte desde la prisión". Oficialmente la asociación se constituye en el año 2009 en Berlín - una ciudad en la cual por décadas un muro dividió a sus habitantes. Los muros de las prisiones también dividen a las personas. Estamos convencidos que el arte en estas situaciones puede tender un puente de comunicación. „Art and Prison e.V.“ esta conformada por artistas, amigos del arte, galerías, patrocinadores privados e instituciones provenientes de mas de 40 países de todos los continentes. Somos independientes de cualquier partido político, ideología o religión La asociación tiene el estatuto legal de una organización sin fines de lucro; por lo tanto todas las donaciones y contribuciones están libres de impuesto. Queremos difundir a través de las fronteras que el arte es una importante contribución hacia procesos mas humanos en las prisiones y a la resocialización de las personas que han estado en prisión. Esto significa también un servicio simultaneo para con las victimas del crimen y la delincuencia. Se trata de construir un camino hacia la integración de personas quienes están en la periferia de la sociedad, personas quienes no tienen acceso a Lobbies y por cuyos destinos las familias son muchas veces desintegradas.
